Earlier this summer, my old friend Butch, his partner, Monroe, and their three kids, Maria, Beatrice and Oliver paid us a drive-by visit as they made their way to a family camp in the northern reaches of Vermont. Well, it was actually more than just a drive-by. They did spend one night, but it was still too short. It was so nice to see them again and to be able to spend time with them. We really need to make an effort to see each other more often.
Since the frog pond is a sure-fire source of entertainment, we all trekked up for a little frog and tadpole handling. Beatrice, holding onto Butch's shoulder, isn't too sure about these slimy frogs.
Ollie felt the need to head to higher ground.
Mickey and the frog share the same Mona Lisa smile.
If Mickey could do it, Beatrice could do it.
Once it got too dark to fish for frogs, silliness and posing began.
Time for a family picture before getting back on the road to Vermont.
